PhytoRNA

Cannabis HLVd

A precision biological approach for reducing HLVd levels and supporting healthier cannabis plants.

In this proof-of-concept (POC), HLVd-infected cannabis cuttings received PhytoRNA treatment. qPCR analysis showed an approximately 2,000-fold reduction in relative HLVd copy number compared with untreated controls.

Hop latent viroid (HLVd) is a major challenge for cannabis cultivation. Infected plants may show reduced growth, lower flower yield, impaired quality and inconsistent performance. The viroid can also spread silently through propagation material, making early control particularly important.

PhytoRNA is developing a targeted biological approach designed to reduce HLVd levels within infected plants while supporting healthier growth and more reliable production.

In a proof-of-concept experiment, HLVd-infected cannabis cuttings received PhytoRNA treatment. qPCR analysis showed an approximately 2,000-fold reduction in relative HLVd copy number compared with untreated controls.

The goal is to provide growers and propagation facilities with a precise and adaptable solution that reduces crop losses, improves plant health and supports the production of cleaner propagation material.
